This drug is a powerful antiviral , active against viruses of the herpes group . It prevents the reproduction of viruses in infected cells, but cannot destroy the viruses hidden in the nerve ganglia , responsible for the recurrences (recurrences) that it cannot prevent.

INTERACTIONS OF THE DRUG ACICLOVIR ZYDUS TABLET WITH OTHER SUBSTANCES
Taking medications that are potentially toxic to the kidneys (contrast agents, aminoglycosides , high-dose methotrexate, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, etc.) increases the risk of adverse renal effects.
FERTILITY, PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
PREGNANCY :

FEEDING WITH MILK :
This drug passes very weakly into breast milk; however, it is preferable to use it only on medical advice in breastfeeding women.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE OF THE DRUG ACICLOVIR ZYDUS TABLET
This medication should be taken with a glass of water.
The tablets are not suitable for children under 6 years old. Indeed, they risk obstructing the airways if the child swallows badly and the tablet passes into the trachea (false route).
USUAL DOSE:
Adult and child over 6 years old :
Treatment of serious herpes infections (except ocular): 5 tablets per day, to be distributed throughout the day, for 5 to 10 days.
Preventive treatment in people suffering from frequent recurrences: 2 tablets, 2 times a day, in continuous treatment for several months.
Treatment of ocular herpes infections: 2 tablets, 5 times a day.
The dosage should be adjusted in case of decreased kidney function.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG ACICLOVIR ZYDUS TABLET
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea , abdominal pain.
Headache, drunkenness. Other nervous disorders such as confusion , agitation, tremors, convulsions , hallucinations, drowsiness have been reported rarely, most often in the elderly or in patients with renal impairment who have received doses higher than the recommended dosage .
Skin rash , hives , itching.
Rarely: shortness of breath, increased transaminases ; exceptionally: allergic reaction , abnormal blood count , kidney failure .
