WHAT IS ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID MYLAN PRESCRIBED FOR?

This medicine contains aspirin, which has, among other properties, that of thinning the blood. This effect persists 4 to 8 days after discontinuation of treatment. The coating of the tablet allows the active substance to be released in the intestine rather than the stomach and thus prevents the irritating effect of aspirin on the stomach lining .

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF THE DRUG ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID MYLAN

This medicine should not be used in the following cases:

allergy to salicylates or NSAIDs ,

stomach or duodenal ulcer ,

hemorrhage or hemorrhagic risk,

severe liver failure ,

severe kidney failure ,

severe heart failure not controlled by treatment,

from the 6th month of pregnancy ( for doses greater than 100 mg per day).

ATTENTION

Aspirin is not an innocuous drug. Only your doctor can decide if taking this medicine for a long time is justified by your state of health.

Precautions are necessary in case of a history of stomach or duodenal ulcer , even old, asthma , gout , moderate renal or hepatic insufficiency and in women who wear an IUD.

Aspirin can increase the duration or amount of bleeding during menstruation.

Avoid taking this medicine during the week preceding a dental extraction or an operation: increased risk of haemorrhage .

INTERACTIONS OF THE DRUG ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID MYLAN WITH OTHER SUBSTANCES

This medication may interact with other medications, including:

anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents ( PLAVIX , etc.): increased risk of bleeding;

medicines containing benzbromarone or methotrexate.

Also inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking a corticosteroid or a medicine containing pentoxifylline or interferon alfa.


FERTILITY, PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

PREGNANCY :

Adverse effects for the mother and the unborn child have been demonstrated when aspirin (at a dose greater than 100 mg per day), like other NSAIDs , is used during the last 4 months of pregnancy; the risk exists even with a single dose and even if the pregnancy is at term.

Consequently, apart from certain very specific medical situations requiring a low dose of aspirin (less than 100 mg per day), aspirin can only be used occasionally during the first 5 months, and its use is contraindicated. indicated from the 6th month .

FEEDING WITH MILK :

This medication passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE OF THE DRUG ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID MYLAN

The tablets should be swallowed whole without being chewed, with a glass of water.

USUAL DOSE:

Adult : 100 mg per day.

TIPS

The regular use of this drug does not contraindicate the occasional intake of more highly dosed aspirin, during a headache or a fever for example.


POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID MYLAN

Gastritis , abdominal pain, bleeding from the nose or gums.

Rare and sometimes serious:

haemorrhage from the digestive tract: bloody vomiting, black stools or, more often, imperceptible blood loss, responsible for the gradual onset of anemia ;
