WHAT IS ACAMPROSATE MYLAN PRESCRIBED FOR?
This medication decreases alcohol dependence by reducing withdrawal symptoms in heavy drinkers.
It is used to help maintain abstinence during alcohol rehab.

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF THE DRUG ACAMPROSATE MYLAN:
This medicine should not be used in the following cases:
kidney failure ,
breastfeeding .
ATTENTION:
Taking this medication is not possible without first stopping all alcoholic beverages.
Any change in mood or behavior during withdrawal from treatment should be reported to the doctor. The vigilance of the entourage is particularly recommended.
Precautions are necessary in case of severe hepatic insufficiency .
FERTILITY, PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
PREGNANCY:
In the absence of sufficient data, this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy.
FEEDING WITH MILK:
From the available data it is not known whether this medicine passes into breast milk. As a precautionary measure, breast-feeding is contraindicated during treatment.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE OF THE DRUG ACAMPROSATE MYLAN:
The tablets should be swallowed with a little water, if possible between meals.
USUAL DOSE:
Adult under 60 kg : 2 tablets in the morning, 1 tablet at noon, 1 tablet in the evening.
Adult over 60 kg : 2 tablets morning, noon and evening.
The recommended duration of treatment is 1 year.

This medicine is only one part of the help the alcoholic can receive; the role of the doctor or associations of former drinkers is crucial.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG ACAMPROSATE MYLAN:
Very common (more than 10% of patients): diarrhea .
Common (1-10% of patients): nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, itching, rash , decreased libido, impotence .
Uncommon: increased libido.
Very rarely: allergic reaction .
