Steps for the installation of urinary catheter:
1. Tell the patient what you will do and the medical reasons for doing so.
2 - Gathering the necessary tools for the installation of urinary catheter on the spare vehicle.
Choose the appropriate size for the urinary catheter.
4 - Clean the pubic area of the patient well with water and soap before the start of the procedure.
5. Wash your hands with a healthy thread.
6. Wear sterile gloves and follow the non-touch method.
7. Connect the catheter to the urine collection bag (closed and sterilized).
8 - If the patient male:
a. Move the foreskin skin back using the left hand.
b- Clean the penis glans and cleanse the area using a suitable disinfectant with the right hand without touching the skin (use a hand sanitizer).
If the patient is female:
Remove the vagina with the left hand and clean the vulva and the surrounding area from the front to the back using an appropriate disinfectant with the right hand without touching the skin (use a handkerchief).
9. Put 3 ml of lubricant (anti-friction material). It is not recommended to use containers that are sufficient for many uses because they themselves become a source of infection.
10. Insert the urinary catheter gently with the right hand, taking into consideration the use of the non-touch method so that the catheter is not touched with the left hand used to show the place of entry, and nothing is touched with the right hand (used to insert the catheter).
11. Fill the balloon with the recommended sterilized water from the catheter manufacturer.
12. Install the catheter with the patient's thigh.
13. The urine collection bag has been established under the patient's bed level to prevent urinary retention.
14. Wash your hands after taking off the gloves and dry them thoroughly.
(Replace the left hand with the left if the catheter is installed).
