Benefits of Controlled Drug Release:
Controlled dosage forms are justified only if they show therapeutic benefits because of their generally high cost of: improving the maintenance of therapeutic drug levels in circulation, minimizing dose recurrence, fluctuation of circulating drug levels, being more appropriate for the patient, and reducing the duration of patient care and doses Lower at night and a higher uniform drug response, less gastrointestinal irritation and fewer side effects. The second (less repetition of the dose) has prompted the development of regressive forms of emancipation. But it has become unacceptable as a single criterion. The current emphasis on current health care is understood.
