DIRECTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE OF THE DRUG ACICLOVIR BIOGARAN GENERIC TABLET
This medication should be taken with a glass of water.
USUAL DOSE:
Treatment of herpes and prevention of recurrences:
Adult and child over 2 years old :
Treatment of herpes infections: 1 tablet, 5 times a day, every 4 hours, for 5 to 10 days.
Prevention of frequent recurrences: 1 tablet, 4 times a day or 2 tablets, 2 times a day, in continuous treatment for several months.
The dosage should be adjusted in case of decreased kidney function.
Treatment of chickenpox and shingles :
Adult : 4 tablets, 5 times a day, for 7 days.
Child over 6 years old : 4 tablets, 4 times a day, for 5 days.
Child from 2 to 5 years old : 2 tablets, 4 times a day, for 5 days.
Child under 2 years old : 1 tablet, 4 times a day, for 5 days.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG ACICLOVIR TABLETS GENERIC
Common (1-10% of patients): headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea , abdominal pain, itching, rash (including photosensitivity), fatigue, fever.
Uncommon (less than 1% of patients): urticaria , hair loss.
Rare: agitation, confusion , tremors, hallucinations, convulsions , drowsiness. These nervous disorders have been observed most often in the elderly or in patients with renal insufficiency who have received doses higher than the recommended posology . Shortness of breath, allergic reaction , increased transaminases .
Very rare: abnormal blood count , kidney failure , jaundice.
