Epinephrine (adrenaline)
Uses: narrowing the vessels to delay the absorption of local anesthetic drugs leaking in the body.
Contraindications: A circular block in the fingers, penis or other conditions that have a risk of local ischemia.
Precautions: hypertension, atherosclerosis of the heart, inadequate cerebral insufficiency, heart blockage; hyperthyroidism or diabetes.
Dosage:
The final concentration is 5 micrograms per ml (1 in 200,000); in dental surgery, in which small quantities are injected, concentrations of up to 12.5 micrograms per milliliter (1 in 80,000) are generally used; the total dose should not exceed 500 micrograms.
