Motor development: What should we expect from the 7th to the 9th month in terms of our baby 's motor skills?
Gross Motricity:
- Pull to stand up when sitting.
- He stands by holding on to something, for example, a piece of furniture.
- Can sit alone and stand for several minutes.
- He gets up on his hands and knees. She is acquiring the crawling position.
- Crawls with an object in hand, usually forward.
- When he starts to crawl he does it back and forth.
- You can sit and rock on your buttocks.
Fine motor:
- Pass toys from one hand to the other.
- Grabs things and puts them in his mouth.
- Pick up things like cereal in an “o” shape between your index finger and thumb, we know this as a “pinch”.
- Manipulates, hits and explores objects with his hands, turning them, dropping them and picking them up again.
- Explore her body with her mouth and hands.
- He claps and waves his hands.
What are the warning signs?
We must inform our pediatrician if our baby:
- Does not stand on legs with support.
- Don't sit with help.
- Does not transfer toys from one hand to the other.
- He is not able to grasp objects between the index and thumb (pincer).
Important:
At this point, 75% of babies begin to crawl ; however, it is known that the remaining percentage that does not do so does not present any subsequent complications and this is not something pathological. The important thing is to be attentive to the other indicators and to be aware of the subsequent development, that is, that our baby manages to stand up and take his first steps.
