Leukocyte adhesion deficiency:
This disorder is inherited as an autosomal recessive body, characterized by poor leukocyte function and this leads to reproductive lesions in tissues both clinically and histologically.
The abnormalities in the function of leukocytes are also present, particularly in the reduction of normal killer cells (NK) and cytotoxic function.
Clinical manifestations:
- Cellulitis, cysts and frequent soft tissue ulcers are the main manifestations. The organisms usually isolated from these cysts are either gonococcal staphylococcus or Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli or suomonas. Frequent otitis media and weak wound healing may be important manifestations.
- Surface Candida infections are common. Inflammation of the ulcerative mouth and severe (dental) disease, which can lead to the loss of a toothpaste, is a common problem.
- Peritonitis is common and is a frequent cause of serious complications.
- delayed fall of the navel and inflammation of the navel.
Diagnosis:
A confirmed laboratory diagnosis depends on showing insufficient surface signs of:
- CD11a, CD11b, & CD11c and on numerous forms of lymphocytes and monocytes.
- Prenatal diagnosis is available and requires a sample of fetal blood.
Treatment:
- Antibiotics.
Leaking neutrophils.
Bone marrow transplant.
