Treatment of Maltese Fever.. Rifampicin. Doxycycline. Rifampicin. Gentamicin. Streptomycin. Jontamycin

Treatment of Maltese Fever: (according to Nelson 2000)
 > 8 years:
TMP-SMX: 10 mg / kg / day of TMP (maximum dose 480 mg / 24 hours) and 50 mg / kg / 24 hours of SMX (maximum 2.4 g / 24 sa) oral up to 45 days.
+ Rifampicin: 15-20 mg / kg / 24 hours P.O until 45 days. Its forms (Syr100mg / 5ml, Cap 150, 300mg).
 <8 p="" years:="">* Doxycyclin 2-4 mg / kg P.O for 6 weeks (tab 100mg).
* Streptomycin 1gr / 24h IM for 1-2 weeks, or Gentamycin 3-5 mg / kg / 24h IM or IV for 1-2 weeks.
As an alternative to using doxy-cyclen + rifampicin (or gentamicin).
* Doxycyclin 2-4 mg / kg P.O for 6 weeks.
* Rifampicin 600-900 mg / 24h P.O for 6 weeks or Gentamycin 3-5 mg / kg / 24h IM or IV for 1-2 weeks (20, 40, 80mg / amp).
In meningitis - osteomyelitis - inflammation of the obsession with brucellosis:
* Doxycyclin 200 mg / day P.O for 4-6 weeks.
* Streptomycin 1gr / day I.M for 4-6 Months, or Gentamycin.
± Rifampicin 15-20 mg / kg (<8 600-900="" day="" egypt="" mg="" years=""> 8 years) P.O for 4-6 months.
