Water channels in membranes.. High membrane permeability of small polar molecules

Channels:
The initial conjecture of aqueous pores in membranes depends on the permeability of the high membrane of small polar molecules. For example, water permeability is 1000 times higher and for urea more than 10 to 100 times higher than expected. These types of observations lead to the prediction of water channels with a radius of about four angstroms.
