Why does wood worm attack old types of plywood and avoid modern species?

The first attempts to make plywood (wood-encrusted layers pressed together to form one piece of wood without the appearance of it) were bad in strength, cohesion and use. They were always vulnerable to the invasion of wood dodgers. The modern species that emerged in the early 1960s were wonderful and powerful and had no problems. What is the reason?

In the past, carpenters used many types of glue derived from animal products, one of the most famous species used in making wood tools, which was extracted from milk. Another famous type of glue, was extracted from the cooked bones of animals (cattle) and boiled well with water. Here we are aware of the reason for the timber problems later . Because the glue in it absorbed the water very strongly, which spoils the piece made of plywood.

But what about the wood worm?

Woodworm is the ardent enemy of wooden furniture, where its presence destroys large logs of boats, rafts and home furnishings. These worms do not devour your furniture as a result of prior hatred, but do so to generate enough energy to live and multiply so that you struggle to build the food you need.

Among the most important food groups they need are nitrogen compounds that make up building proteins. Wood lacks this type, so the worm has to eat a large amount of wood, of course, to its size. In general, the woodworm devours any type of wood, hard or fragile, and of course the large energy the worm spends in devouring hardwood is matched by more of the food groups it takes. If this were the case, the worm would specialize in certain types of wood because of its food supply. But the truth is different, wood veneers follow general rules. With human intervention when making plywood and the use of animal glue, the original has become an important protein for ready-to-eat. It's no wonder that the worms are attracted towards this kind . It must have been the same for them as a dish with a grilled steak in front of a very hungry person.

Unfortunately, there is no so-called free food, as the situation does not last forever. With the increased use of complex industrial glue from the 1960s, good types of plywood have become excellent in terms of durability and water resistance. At the same time, wood dodge has lost its easy chance of having ready-made protein, so it has become a thing of the past.
