Anticonvulsants / antidepressants in children:
- Carbamazepine - Syrup: 100 mg / 5 ml.
Tablets (chewable): 100 mg; 200 mg.
Tablets (incised): 100 mg; 200 mg.
- Diazepam - Syringe: 5 mg / mL in 2 ml ampoule (intravenous or rectum).
Benzodiazepine is reviewed as an alternative to diazepam (specifically considering the efficacy and safety of laurazepam and medazolam in relation to diazepam).
- Phenobarbital - Syringe: 200 mg / ml (phenobarbital sodium).
Syrup: 15 mg / 5 ml (phenobarbital) or 5 ml (phenobarbital sodium).
Tablets: 15-100 mg (phenobarbital).
- Phenytoin - capsules: 25 mg; 50 mg; 100 mg (sodium salt).
Syringe: 50 mg / ml in a 5 ml bottle (sodium salt).
Syrup: 25-30 mg / 5 ml.
Tablets: 25 mg; 50 mg; 100 mg (sodium salt).
Tablets (for chewing): 50 mg.
* The 25 mg / 5 ml dose strength and the 30 mg / 5 ml dose in the same market can cause confusion in drug labeling and disbursement; this should be avoided.
- Valproic acid (sodium valproate) - Syrup: 200 mg / 5 ml.
Tablets (for crushing): 100 mg.
Tablets (intestinal laminated): 200 mg; 500 mg (sodium salt).
- Ethosoximide - Capsules: 250 mg.
Syrup: 250 mg / 5 ml.
