NSAIDs in improving the absorption of drugs. Indomethacin. Diclofenac. Meprazole. Phenylbutazone. Salisylate

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs)
NSAIDs, specifically indomethacin, diclofenac, mepirazole, phenylbutazone and salicylate can improve the absorption of other drugs, including insulin, ampicillin, cephalothin, cefoxitin and cefmetazole. Most of these observations were observed on the rat and frequently after rectal administration. Most mechanisms performed by NSAIDs improve the absorption of the fluid, but the exact mechanisms are not known. Since NSAIDs are often irritating to the stomach mucus and may be due to its ability to enhance absorption, the benefit of its use in improving drug uptake is uncertain.
