The 1978 Act exempted abortion from punishment if the following conditions are met:
- If the mother is the one who calls for abortion if the pregnancy poses a danger to the physical and psychological health of the mother and after consultation with the doctor can make an abortion within 90 days of pregnancy.
- If the mother is the one who calls for abortion if the pregnancy poses a danger to the physical and psychological health of the mother and after consultation with the doctor can make an abortion within 90 days of pregnancy.
