Endodontics, also known as root canal treatment, is the procedure that dentists use to remove - in part or in its entirety - the pulp of the tooth and seal the pulp canal. The pulp is the innermost part of the tooth and is made up of a soft tissue that contains the nerves and blood vessels. The part of the duct that is inside the crown is called the pulp cavity, while the one corresponding to the root is called the reticular duct and is the one that connects to the maxillary bone.
The most frequent cause of infection and consequent inflammation and necrosis of the pulp, and therefore of the need for endodontics, is the existence of caries, although there are other factors that can generate pulpitis or pulp injury:

Injuries:
The abrasion, erosion and wear of the teeth by rubbing between them.
The way in which some restorative treatments are carried out and the materials used in them.
To perform a root canal, it is necessary to anesthetize the area in which it is to act. Subsequently, a hole is made in the crown of the tooth to be able to access the pulp and extract it and proceed to clean the duct before sealing and sealing it and the crown with specific materials. At the end of the intervention the tooth will be fully numb and isolated from any other part of the organism.
Further monitoring will be necessary to verify the effectiveness and evolution of endodontics.

Symptom:
Endodontics is necessary when the nerves of the tooth have been damaged by decay and must be removed. When this fact occurs we have had to notice the following symptoms:
Pain in both the tooth and the area damaged by caries.
Swelling and redness of the gum due to infection.
Dental sensitivity to both pressure and temperature changes.
The dentist by means of an exploration of the area and an x-ray will determine the extent of the damage and decide on the most appropriate treatment.

Types of endodontics:
Endodontics is a technique that removes the damaged dental nerve and fills the hole with biocompatible material. Depending on the ducts to be removed or the root of the tooth, one type of root canal is applied and another:
- Unirradicular: corresponds to premolar or anterior teeth with a single root.
- Birradicular: corresponds to premolars and molars with two root canals.
- Multiracial: corresponds to molars with two or more roots.
