Lactones .. Internal esters of carboxylic acids with an alcohol or phenolic function formed by the removal of water and molecules

Lactones:
These compounds can be considered as internal substrates of carboxylic acids with an alcohol or phenolic function, formed by the removal of water and molecules that may contain one or more of the functions of esters in the form of a ring, known as growth, diy, tri-lactone etc. Except for hydrothermal hydroxyl hydrolyses or polycyclic acids, which are fairly stable but that can be easily opened by alkaline materials.
